ode to Karachi

the Kalashnikov rattle
babies sleep
an explosion echoes
mothers weep
how infinite is the pain
fathers may never be back again
the city implodes
with episodes
of copious fumes of hate
and on the streets
scarlet pathos percolate
corpses lining street
as predators retreat
Up Malir to Clifton down
from Lehri to Koirangi Town
inebriate with putrid lust
that win...
